Interesting Observation

Go to solution Solved by Volbet,

You can't compare AMD and Intel that way.One AMD core ≠ one Intel core. Intel cores are more powerfull.

It also depends on you usage scenario. Since you said you would be using the PC for gaming, you wouldn't be able to utilize all the cores that AMD offers, so Intel was the better alternative.

Why you got a 4690K and a  motherboard that doesn't allow overclocking is what I'm wondering.

I made this very interesting observation.........

On 28 July of was my birthday and on that day i received a GIGABYTE B85M-D3H along with a Core i5-4690K.

About 1 month prior to my birthday, i joined the community to ask  this question:

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/184029-pc-processor-upgrade/

Everyone said i should go for the i5-4690K which is a quad core instead of AMD FX-6300 or the AMD FX-8350.

My question is why did they say: "go for the QUAD CORE i5 and NOT the 6CORE or the 8CORE AMD alternative..." which should be more powerful............(in my opinion a lot more powerful) WHY???? JUST WHY????

Ummm The i5 is more powerful at pretty much anything, what are you saying,,

The 8350's eight cores aren't as strong as the i5's four cores so in the end the i5 come out on top

There might be ways you can overclock the CPU a little, but not to it's full potential.

And I wouldn't recommend using software to overclock your CPU. Usually even an inexperienced user can ge better results with a manual overclock. But if it is your only option, then go for it.

You can try, but as far as I know the B85 chipset is not supported.

Intel Extreme Tuning Utility should only support overclocking on P67, Z68, Z77, Z87, Z97 and X79 chipsets.

Well ASUS non-Z motherboards can OC, but H97 isn't as good as the others (H87, B85).
