Thoughts on this build?

Ok so ths will be my first custom built PC and im looking for feedback/ peoples opinions. Ill be using it for gaming and light work. My budget was around 2,000$. (includes monitor and speakers) I will be purchasing through cyberpowerpc because I don't feel comfortable doing the build myself.

CPU: Intel I7 - 4790k

Overclocking: Venom Boost Pro OC (10% or more)

Can likely find you a better solution. Are you paying for that over clocking?

That's not a bad build. I would upgrade the GPU to a 780 instead, but since you don't have any of the peripherals or anything then I understand that budget. Other than that I don't really see any problems. A bunch of people are telling me that I should use a Z97 board for my build (I'm not sure if that board is Z97 or not) but I don't know the advantages/disadvantages to having a Z97 board over a Z87 board.

 

EDIT:

I saw that post on if you're paying for the overclocking. Honestly it's not hard to do it yourself, so that's an easy way to save a bit of money.

some video editing word processing and audio editing. I will be paying for the overclocking but its only 20$

Look at this, the only thing that isn't as good is the RAM, but it will make almost NO difference. I'm 14 and I built my PC after watching about 5 how-to build a PC videos. You'll be fine dude.

It's not always about the max frame rate. The average, and low frame rates are actually more important.

awesome thanks guys appreciate the responses. I have a buddy who says he can help me out with the build and will probably be going with the GTX 780. For the pre-built water cooling systems is there a huge difference between any of the major brands? I was gonna stick with the nzxt for aesthetic reasons. Would I be better off going with a 120mm push-pull over the 140mm?

also having trouble finding a comparison: would you recommend the AMD XFX Black Edition Double D AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB GDDR5 or the EVGA Superclocked NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 3GB.
