Just wondering if you guys thought 1200/1600 was a good overclock for a 290X with +200mV and +20% PL?

Also, whenever I go above this (1220), it won't artifact, but performs no better than it does at 1200, how come?

Thanks!

OC's are all dependant on your luck and how the GPU you have was binned. So you wont ever have two cards that OC the exact same.

Not all OC's help performance some hinder performance there is normally a sweet spot that you hit to balance the extra heat/power vs Performance gain.

I think i've hit a thermal limit with this card, I get ~20% improvement at 1200, maybe just leaving it there is the best thing to do.

Maybe higher needs full watercooling.

1200 is a very good overclock, adding 20mhz isn't a big boost so the difference is barely noticeable. To get some extra frames you need to push it to at least 1250 I think.

Yeah, I think it needs a full waterblock for anything above that tbh

Be carefull with high overclocks when using a NZXT Kraken G10 because of the limited VRM and RAM cooling. And just to mention it: You have +200mV, what is your reference Voltage? Because my ASUS R9 290X DirectCUIi has a default voltage of 1250mV and maximum is 1408mV. I achieve stable 1180MHz/1600MHz @ 1360mV. Haven't tried to go any futher yet because of driver issues that reset my oc everytime I restart the pc ... (meaning I have no oc at the moment anyway)

ASUS ROG Strix B550-F + AMD Ryzen 5800X3D; ASUS 6800XT TUF; 16GB G.Skill TridentZ 3600; bequiet! Dark Power 13 850W; Samsung 860 Pro M.2 2TB; PHANTEKS Evolve X

I've ghetto modded the stock cooler onto the VRM's to help with that, they usually hit ~75-80 on VRM1 with 1450mV at max after 3 runs of unigine Valley

So you really run that thing @ 1450mV? Wow that's like really much. But temps are fine then so I guess keep going  . I think I want to see know what overclocks I can do with my ASUS @ 1408mV. But I think this will be hard to test properly without any driver installed (Just uninstalled my driver properly an hour ago and since then the AMD homepage is down ...)
