GTX 770 or GTX 780 1080p Gaming

Humble Bee
Go to solution Solved by Askew,

R9 290 Tri-X is the best card at that price point.

Here is the current best price I've found in the UK, they've only got 2 left so step on it! :)

If you want to stay with Nvidia though, yes the 780 is worth the jump.

I am thinking about a new GPU and I want to know is there a big performance difference between the GTX 770 and 780 for 1080p gaming. I just want to know is the GTX 780 worth the premium. As the 770 is £205 and the 780 is £330. Is there a significant performance increase with the 780 over the 770?

If only we all could afford 8 SSD's in Raid 0

The R9 290 is what dominates that price range. It's a killer deal.

Yeah this!

That card is CRAZY value!, 780 is an awesome card for the green team too, and worth paying the extra for, even at just 1080p

The 770 is enough, however in that price range as others pointed out the R9 290 is a much better option. If you think you don't need the extra performance, there's always the R9 280x, cheaper and faster than the 770.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I'm on the same board with this dude. Either 770 or get a strong R9 290 with nice aftermarket cooler then you're done deal with 1080p.

Spoiler

Definitely a 780 or a 290/290X with a good quiet cooler

Thanks Everyone, Looks like I'll be picking up a R9 290 then :D

Is there any particular non-reference design I should be looking at. I take it that the sapphire Tri is the one to get?

If only we all could afford 8 SSD's in Raid 0
