Mic SCREWED!

Alright. So I accidentally freaking spilled water onto my headset. Luckily, the audio still works. But I tested to see if the mic works well. Instead it's got these loud ass muffled static noises. What do I do? Is this the end?

Wait. I just found something. I tried unplugging the jack to see if it's actually stained with water or not. I didn't dried my mic jack so the entire input is covered in water. Seems like that's the problem.

Why would you try to use an electrical device right after it's been covered in water? You'll only damage it more. Let it completely dry and maybe throw it in a bag of rice.

That. And the more careful you want to be, the longer you'll wait for it to dry. Of course, the more valuable the item the more eagerly you will be waiting, but just know you're giving it more chances if you let it fully, fully, fully dry before turning it on.

 

Just something to be aware of the next time this sort of thing happens.

I think for sensitive electronics if you want to be completely sure it's dry, you gotta wait 2 weeks at least.
