Hey guys, I need some help with my pc parts Im going to buy at the end of the month. I do a lot of photoshopping and play games like Borderlands, Minecraft, Half life, Doom and all those. My budget is $650-700(at most since postage is around $50). I had the FX 6300 R7 260x 4 gb RAM (Will upgrade to 8) but I really like the Bitfenix Prodigy case, but AM3/AM3+ don't have any Mini ITX or mATX Motherboards, I was looking at going with Intel, but I wanted a Quadcore, and the i5 4460 doesn't fit in my budget, so I came up with this.

BitFenix Prodigy M - $109
ASRock FM2A88M Extreme4+ -$95
AMD A8 6600k - $115
Sapphire R7 260x -$155
Corsair CMX 1x4 GB RAM -$55
1 TB Western Didgital WD Blue -$69
Corsair VS550 PSU -$65
Total - $663

Tell me what you guys this of these parts, since I thought this would be better for my budget. I would rather not buy a Mid/Full tower since I normally bring my laptop down to the living room and hook it up to the TV and play Minecraft, and it would be a trek/10 to bring a Mid/Full tower down stairs, but since the Prodigy is small enough to fit on my desk and has handles, it would be easier for me. I also live in Australia and Im buying all my parts from PC Case Gear. Any help would be appreciated :) Thanks

go for at least 8GB RAM

since you have a GPU

pick the Athlon 760K

I am from Australia and I dont think you can buy the 760k anywhere here. I will also get anther 4 GB stick for later upgrade. I know there are mATX Motherboards for AM3/AM3+ but there are also none from the place I am buying my parts from, and Im not willing to buy stuff overseas.

MWave has it

but the VRMs are not cooled so you need to stick some heatsinks on them

or pick this

but mATX AM3+ mobos are generally trash

I've seen reviews of that Asus Motherboard and saw that it wasn't very good. What do you think of the specs I listed? I just want to know if it would be good enough for what I'm doing. Thanks

APU are only good if you don't need a GPU

and that APU is just borderline good, neither bad nor good

you will be better off with your current FX and a 270X

I would if there was some better mATX  Motherboards for AM3+ :/ If I went with a FX 6300 and the R9 270x the price would bumb up to around $850, which is over my budget, and I wouldn't be able to get the Prodigy unless I got that Asus mATX which Im not keen on doing

Thanks for that. I don't really want to buy parts from different stores so I'm buying them all from PC Case Gear. I've changed some specs and came up with this:

BitFenix Prodigy Mini ITX -$79
ASRock H81M-ITX - $79
Sapphire R7 260x -$155
Corsair 1x4GB RAM-$55 (Will upgrade to 8/16GB)
Corsair VS550 PSU -$65
WD Blue 1TB HDD - $69
IntelCore i3 4150 -$129(Will upgrade to an i5 of some sort later on)

Total -$631

What do you think of that?

Hey there 66Pyrithion,

WD Blue is a great drive that would do the job for you. But since you are going for some good gaming, I would recommend checking out the WD Black series which are designed specifically for gaming. Here's a link:

Hope this helps,
