Depneds on the mosquito net. Leggins sounds like a bad idea though. Problem with improvised filters is not only the affect on airflow, it can also cause annoying noises because of how the airflow gets manipulated. I'd go for real filters. Check out the Silverstone filters. They are 8 bucks each for 120mm and 140mm: http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=316.

They are okay, don't affect airflow too much and you don't get any weird sounds.

Mosquito net seems ok but leggins would miles too thick and would affect airflow

Could i just throw something together from say mosquito net or a pair of leggings or does that affect the airflow too much?

Should i just spend the money on real filters instead? Seems really overpriced imo...

Leggins are a big NO. Mosquito net depends, the holes on the ones I have in front of my windows aren't nearly small enough. So only if the holes are small enough to resemble a fan filter. Here's an example and a good not so expensive fan filter, they also come in 140mm. http://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999217
