Alright so I have 3 dell 4k monitors coming in and I want to run them at 60Hz but I can only do the with displayport 1.2.

Here is the catch, I only have two MSI GTX 780 Lightnings so that means only two displayports. I need another to keep my 60Hz, so I was wondering if I could use something like this to keep my 60Hz and still be connected with a displayport.

1) a splitter will only let you duplicate the screen, not extend it.

2) You will not be able to play on 3 4k monitors with only 2 780s

3) You will not be able to play over 60fps on a single 4k monitor with 2 780s

2 780s will do 60fps at 4k on a good number of games once you turn AA off and maybe a few other things.

On medium settings with no AA yes, but definitely not high or ultra.

Skip to 0:35, I just want to know if I extend it will my Hz drop or stay the same on both screens.

2) Who said I was going to play on 4k with 3 monitors?

3) LMFAO what a joke.

1) it will not work because those are not 4k monitors. DP can't do 8k resolutions.

2) it was a possibility that you would try to game on all 3 of them

3) look at some benchmarks

Even if you use a DP MST hub it won't work, a single DisplayPort doesn't have the bandwidth to run 2 4K monitors at 60Hz.  You can do one 4K 60Hz monitor per DisplayPort, period.

1) Was that so hard? Just a simple "no it won't keep your 60Hz"?

2) Believe me I will be playing a game on all 3 of them but no one ever said I would be playing on 4k for all 3 monitors. I will be playing 2k on all 3 monitors.

3) Looked at some benchmarks and I'm still confused why you think that a oc msi lighting in sli won't be able to handle it.

Everytime I come to this forum I get flammed by the community because they think their badasses. This is probably the worst tech form out there. TekSyndicates forums is a SHITTON nicer then this community. Don't get my wrong, I love linus but I hate his forum.

AH ok if you're playing at a downscaled resolution then you will be fine. You just wont be able to play at ultra settings and get over 60fps. If 780ti SLI can't do 60fps on ultra 4k, two 780s will definitely not be able to. But since you're not playing at 4k then I think high settings should be possible in most games.

Last question. So here is the scenario, I will be playing a game on 3 4k monitors downscales to 2k. I will be using display ports for two of the monitors and what should I use for the last monitor. The monitor that I will be using is a Dell UP24140

HDMI

I'm not sure if you can get 2.0 cables yet...but im pretty sure its not been released afaik...

HDMI is the next best to DP so without a 2.0 cable you will have to do with 30Hz
