As a part of my CPU cooling upgrade I plan to get a pair of Corsair SP120 PWM fans.

There's one report on Newegg that they work fine, but there have already been 3 reports that the fan doesn't give an RPM readout, and the fan can't be controlled.

For the positive report, the user has the fans connected to an H80i, and is controlling them with Corsair Link.  For the negative reports, all the users have the fans connected to their motherboards.

Is this one of those instances where it's only going to work with something of the same brand?  Has anyone else had a chance to try out these fans and see whether the PWM control works?  I'm planning on connecting the fans to an Antec Kuhler 920 (my mobo doesn't do fan control).  Maybe they have a better chance of working properly on the cooler than on a motherboard?  Is PWM always so hit or miss?

If I can't get a definitive answer I'll go ahead and try them out anyway.  Just seeing whether I can save myself some time.

(And no I'm not getting Noctuas haha.)
