2) restart steam

3) restart PC

4) did a system clean

5) cursed a bit

6) told steam support they are frustrating me

Happens to me sometimes too.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Try to isolate the problem. Take something that could be causing the problem and swap it and see if it is still happening. Be it hardware or software. Lets start at a high level.

Do you have steam installed on another computer in the building. If not, install it on another computer. Does the second computer have the same issue?

I only have steam installed on one PC which is my gaming PC all the other PCs(laptops) are for work no games are played on them. The problem is coming from steam i was just able to play a MW3 domination game and everyone on both teams got a HUGE lag spike.

I've had these happen to me a couple of times - it's very irritating.

Here's some ideas:

1. Check your current firewall settings, Steam may be blocked - Look, I know you don't want to do this 'coz it sounds stupid but this happened to me without me knowing it.

2. Check your anti-virus/anti-malware, again, Steam may be blocked - It happened to me with Kaspersky.

3. Check Windows UAC if it's blocking Steam - I'm currently having problems with this. It asks permission in opening some, but not all, games. Logging in is no problem but I suggest you give Steam an elevated level of control. However if you have UAC disabled, don't mind this.

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

All of the above is ok for me then problem is just steam for what ever reason.

That sounds more like the server you were on lagging then anything else, If that many people got a lag spike at once. Anyway install steam on one of those laptops if you can and see if you get the same disconnect issue. Trying to reduce the possible issues. First you got to see if it is something wrong on your computer or elsewhere(router, isp, valve). If you can not we can try something else but might not be as easy.

I installed steam on one of the laptops and went by a friend and used her internet connection and the same frigging thing. Some buddies from steam PMed me asking if i am getting the problem as they are which is what i am experiencing and they live in US, Denmark, Australia, Malaysia and Newfoundland. So this seems to be a steam problem. Everyone's PC can't be giving trouble all of a sudden.

I believe something is going on in steam, either they are being hacked or they made some server changes and something is screwed up.

I'll just wait it out.
