Hi everyone,

since a few days i've got this weird problem that when i'm gaming my FPS drops suddenly and stays on the lower side in all games. where i normally got 80 fps i now get 40 fps. What could it be, because when i bump my CPU clock speed up it's better and sometimes it makes it even worse. I normally run on stock speed. Could it laso be my HDD becuase it's an old Hitachi 500GB.

My specs:

Mobo: AsRock 970 Extreme 4

CPU: AMD FX-8320

Ram: 8GB Corsair 1333Mhz

GPU: One XFX HD7850 and One XFX HD7770

CPU Cooler: Corsair H60i

HDD: Old Hitachi 500GB

Thank you in advance!

Reinstall drivers just to be sure.

But you could check your temperatures and GPU load using MSI afterburner and see what's going on. If your CPU is too hot it will throttle and cause a bottleneck resulting in low FPS. IF your GPU gets too hot the same will happen so check that first.

Will run some benchmarks. Drivers are recently reinstalled because of new windows intstallation.

CPU stays at 45 degrees climbed up from 27. GPU peaks at 85 degrees.

Yea I think that's where your problem is. Some cards throttle at 80 degrees so that might be it. My guess is the cooling for your GPU is either insufficient because it is broken or you may just need to undust it or you need to set the fan curve higher (spin faster earlier).

I'll undust it and put the hd7770 one slot lower so my HD7850 has more Breathe room.

That could very much be it. Undust both and set more aggressive fan curves and you should be set. Also turn down OC's if you have OC'd either of the 2 cards.

I would remove the 7770 if you are running it in crossfire with the 7850.

Is the FPS drops in BF4? If so then that seems to be a normal thing now.

Was undusting the GPU's now going to start the benchmark again.

@Archangel1994 stiil getting 85 degrees... going to take my whole pc apart and rebuilt with more optimized airflow.

Fair enough but have you already tried a more aggressive fan curve?
