So I recently found out corsair link has much more in plan than just controlling your PSU or closed loop watercooling system.

This is the new corsair link commander.

http://www.corsair.com/us/corsair-link/corsair-link-kits/corsair-link-cooling-and-lighting-kit.html

This looks amazing for 2 reasons.

You finally have a way to control RGB lighting in your case or even standard lighting and also you can set up fans within your whole case from this one unit.

This will probably be the next gen of fan controllers. You can set up fan curves from every fan depending on your CPU temp etc.

And temperature sensors which anyone who has ever owned a temperature sensor will know are a complete waste of time, look ugly in your case and are just generally useless as they can only measure the outside temperature of an object.

Sort of like holding a thermometer to your skin and expecting to get useful information from that.

So all of this sounds amazing.

What I do fear is that corsair has gone down the apple route a bit here. At first I was very excited and already preparing to buy this thing but it seemed like I needed to do a bit more research first. So I have custom RGB led lighting strips down in my case. Currently I can't really control the colour so I was very excited as soon as I saw this.

Then I read on and it was something along the lines of "You need a corsair commander module" yes that's the massive block of metal that's 3.5" and the size of a hard drive. Good you would think? Well no. I have no space in my case for any more 3.5" hard drive sized things. Also that block of metal costs $90. Yes a bit too much for a glorified fan controller.

I am still really excited by this and one can only hope you can completely avoid the big module and simply get the corsair link to USB adapter I received with one of their power supplies.

That would really make my day and completely change my custom case lighting capabilities.

Please make THIS product a self contained unit!

Please note I am a corsair fanboy so any shit they will come out with I will love.

Oh yes and I almost forgot. I hope they don't make their LED strips different for some weird reason to stop people buy their over priced pre-made strips.

Corsair.com had a deal on before Christmas where if you bought the Cooling and Lighting kit, you get one of all accessory for free (including an additional cooling node and an additional lighting node). I got it and so far its great. The LED's look awesome in my 650D :)
