Possibly. But I don't think so. Prebuilt PCs at this price point are pretty much always without discrete GPU or something so low end that you will not even be able to play at 720p.

how exactly does one spend $4k on a gaming computer and not know this stuff...

IT will run poorly, but playable at 1080p and well at 720p.

it is not microcenter but I imagine that the price will be similar. You can add better GPU and you will still fit into budget (R9 280x or R9 290).
