Asus Maximus V Formula Onboard sound?

Does anyone have experience with the onboard sound for this mobo? I keep hearing people say it's great, but than others say that onboard sound always sucks no matter what. Just looking for someone with first hand experience. Asus seems pretty proud of the onboard sound though.

It has real onboard sound, not just crappy offhand. It isn't as good as a dedicated sound card, but its decent. Unless you have a good pair of speakers/headphones to go along with the soundcard, it won't matter though.

Helltech's hit it right on the nose. Much better than normal onboard, but of course a dedicated card will be better.

Thanks Linus, your comment adds even more reassurance! I believe its a V Formula that sits on the shelf in the back during live streams?

Also, compare the SupremeFX at 110 dB SNR to the ALC892 (Found on the P8Z77-V) at 90dB
