Yep, just installed it. Although being installed on a slow USB hard drive, it is quite snappy. Obviously it is a clean install and on the outer edge of the drive, but Blackmagic Disk Speed Benchmark reported sequential read/writes of around 40MB/s, so that is not very fast by any stretch of the imagination.

Currently trying it only, no bugs yet found.

@equippedbum OK so a few hours ago, I restarted my Mac and found that the beta installer had messed with my boot flag for my actual OSX Mavericks install. It showed up as "Install OSX" O.o I panicked for a moment. After restarting without my external Yosemite drive connected and just powering the machine up, nothing booted for a minute, it was just stuck at a white screen. Then, Windows 8.1 (my bootcamp OS, secondary OS) booted and I was like "What!!!" this is not normal.

So I then managed to run recovery mode and reset the bootflag using the startup disk menu... That was it. No biggie, but if anyone else uses the installer to install Yosemite to an external drive, they should be aware of this potential problem.

Has anyone else tried it yet so far? From what I've tested I found slightly higher OpenGL performance on Intel GPUs. This is interesting. Not sure if this is actually a fact or placebo, but I think I get a couple more frames in Heaven and Valley than usual... Will do some scientific testing to find this out.

I downloaded it and it was very buggy.. I am using a lot of development tools though and those can easily get bugged if there are a lot of OS changes.

Only thing about that is it's still on Ubuntu 12.04, but there's ways to ghetto rig it for 14.04 :P

I just installed it earlier today. Aside from the occasional graphical hiccup, it actually works surprisingly well. My only complaint is that it takes significantly longer to boot than Mavericks did on my hardware.

Well, that and during boot I can no longer change the keyboard layout at the disk decryption password prompt. So I'm stuck entering my password on a Dvorak keyboard that the computer thinks is QWERTY. I suppose that one was self-inflicted though.

Aside from all that, it looks great and I love it. Once the official release drops I might even turn my desktop into a hackintosh.
