I've heard that installing a fresh install is better then cloning an old OS but honestly im too lazy and just havent got the time considering i'm having to pretty regularly babysit my nephews so anything i should know before doing the deed bios is set to ahci and ive shrunk the installation size to 60gb so any extra advice will be appreciated thanks.

If you are planning to do sector by sector clone via Conezilla or other such software it wont matter if you shrink the active partition size as it will still say that your SSD is too small (as the HDD size is much larger). Not to mention the fact that the chances are it wont be 4096 aligned so you are shooting yourself in the foot performance wise. Also for setting from IDE>AHCI mode you will need to do some prior registry tweaks else Windows will refuse to boot.

I cant suggest enough that a clean install is just the best option.  ;)

The new samsung drives come with the magician software, just make sure your old drive doesn't have any errors and then use the magician software to clone your C drive, I used it before and it worked great for me

Did you have problems with the partition alignment?
