IDE to AHCI

Blew

I am looking to switch my SSD from IDE to AHCI mode, but i am unsure on what i need to do. People have told me that i need to re-install my OS and others say i don't need to.

I have an OCZ Vertex 3 with windows 8 running on it. If someone could help me that would be great :)

You most likely do NOT have to reinstall your OS.  I just replaced my motherboard because it did not support AHCI.  I had installed the OS (Windows 7 Prof 64) months ago but all I had to do was edit the registry key and then change to AHCI in BIOS.

I see you are running Windows 8.  I agree that the link Wynter posted should work.  The key is different in Windows 7 but its the same concept I'm sure.
