CPU is no longer working

Guys I am in need of a new CPU,

I belive my MoBo is still fully functional and is an LGA1155 socket. I am considering upgrading to an LGA1150 Haswell refresh with the Pentium G3258 and overclocking the hell out of it. Any opinioins are welcome on what I should do either upgrading or stickeing with my current socket.

Instead of spending money on a mobo + cpu combo get a 2500K or 3570K they both kick ass.

Well get another one, the pentium is a awesome cpu and all but you have a full working motherboard so why waste it, get a 3570K and upgrade when Skylake comes or something lol that CPU is really almost the same as a 4690K..

1156 is for the first gen i7 processors (Nelahem) such as the i7-930, and Ivy Bridge is on 1155.

Yes Sandy and Ivy are both socket 1155

if I bought the lga 1155mobo when the sandy bridge series came out, do I need tp update the Bios when I install an 3xxx series cpu?

Yes, you will have to update to newest bios to use an Ivy Bridge processor. Assuming you are talking about a Z68 motherboard. There are also some P67 boards that have Ivy Bridge support with an updated Bios.

Z68 boards come with the required bios for Ivy bridge unless its been 3 year in stock in the shop. You can always order the bios chip from ebay, the bios chips on most boards are modular and not soldered.
