Advantages/Disadvantages

So I am really split down the middle about two cpu's. I kinda need some help deciding. I am caught between i7 4790k & i7 4930k. I know the price differences but which performs better in what conditions? I will be doing video encoding and msuic encoding along with streaming all the time to my Xbox 360 and gaming.

The 4930K is better in all aspects. It's not needed but it's better. If you're doing intensive editing it's worth it.

i doubt you need 12 threads and expensive motherboard. 4790K will be good for your needs. Basically they are on par with single threaded apps while 4930K dominates over heavly threaded apps thanks to 6 cores.

Sounds like either will work thanks I think I'm going to aim for the 4930k.

Expensive DDR4 ram, more expensive motherboards, probably not a huge jump in performance. X99 is worth it if you go for the 8 core, but everything else will be an overall more expensive system. Wait a generation or two until we have reasonable DDR4 prices.

This won't be built till early next year. So budget is what it is it can be moved around.

5960x will have 8 cores 16 threads. Just throwing this out there :-) .Maybe if you manage to somehow get a discount for it...But man oh man that performance..

Yea 8 cores running at a baseline 3.0 Ghz with a max overclock of 3.6 Ghz when devils canyon is half the cores and half the cost and twice as fast. However that new ram is suppose to mount into the cpu. That 8 core also cost 1,000 (USD) dollars and at that price you could get a 12.core Xeon chip that will have a faster clock speed then the 8-core.
