Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone uses the service from Microsoft, known as Dreamspark and has encountered the same problem as I have.

You have to use their secure download manager, which inherently sucks, and I was wondering if anyone else had a different solution? With dreamspark premium I have access to the majority of Microsoft software and I've been trying to download Microsoft Vista Business SP1 for the last *THREE* days, yes, that's right, three. It's a 3GB file...

So, any advice, solutions, help etc would be greatly appreciated.

I use SDM to download DreamSpark licensed products. The download manager should work properly, if it's blocked by the college network you should talk to someone to enable it.

SDM sometimes lags and glitches out a bit, but it works.

SDM won't even download on my desktop, I had to use my MacBook and even then it's slow.

I don't think you understand, the actual service isn't blocked. the P2p protocol is blocked, which is why I can't download .torrent files, which shouldn't affect the SDM.

I get to around 15% - error, I resume 30% - error. etc.

An example of this error is;

Sorry, can't copy and paste. The SDM just hung and isn't responding.

I have forwarded messages to both my support team here at my university, and they have elevated my questions and thoughts to Microsoft, but no word back yet, and I need multiple operating systems by this weekend.

Had this happen to me before. Try this:

Quit SDM. Go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\e-academy Inc. Delete the folder in there called SecureDownloadManager.

Then try opening your SDX file again. That's how I fixed mine. Good luck!

I will try this after my download completes, I'll see if it isn't corrupted as it's on 92% now, so might as well try it out.

Thanks for the advice!
