Ideas for gaming area

I'm looking for some cool or useful ideas on gaming area decoration and arrangement. I've tried looking on google and youtube but most articles and videos are just about building the computer. I'm looking for some ideas to spice up my gaming desk as I'm working on a pc build. It would also be helpful if you could leave the estimated price of the addition as well. Thanks.

Easy things are a monitor arm mount, DIY'd mic arm, and a decent way of displaying your PC (if it looks nice), of course with a fitting color scheme. My desk, and things to make it look nice overall, cost ~$70 in total.
So, desk, monitor arm, DIY mic arm, side table, and pre-existing color coordinated parts. Get those together, and you already have a setup looking nicer than 90% of other pc gamers with cluttered desks and stock stuff.

edit: I can post a picture if you want, but it's simplistic, nothing fancy. If you're looking for something like, wall-mounted computer parts and crap, I can't give personal input besides "It looks cool" :)

I really wish that we'd just make organic hardware already, that grows and adapts to the demands it needs to meet. That way, grannies' computers can be floppy sacks of organicness and the 12 year old Minecrafters will look like the guys that only do bicep curls, and the nerdy programmers will finally have justice, with their body-builder rigs that skipped leg day.

I think a big ecosphere on a desk would look pretty sick. Probs cost around $300 I think though.

Other than that, most people stick LED strips behind their monitors that give off a good glow, that should cost around £20/$40[

Yeah unfortunately I don't have that kind of money. I can just turn my chair and see my bearded dragon anyways lol

Perhaps after I get a second monitor. I got a nice acer h236hlbid that is awesome for multi-monitor setups because of its thin bezel

I have a secondary monitor, a 4:3, also on my desk. It adds to the look as well, even though it's old, dim, and really only used for chat when I stream and software when I record. And some monitoring stuff when I have other PC's around and am messing with them.

I have three, no VGA output on my computer at all and I'm too lazy to get an adapter lol. I probably should at some point.

Anyways, yeah. It's fairly easy to make your desk look nice for cheap.

One piece of advice I would give comes from a military friend of mine.

Soft blue lighting. They do it in command control type centers where there's a lot of screens (usually on ships) because It's easier on your eyes than yellow/white light.

And no, that's not just a movie thing. I've tried it myself and have experienced a noticeable difference in the amount of eye strain I felt, and I am the type to sit at the pc all day long (like I did today)

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs

You should check out this thread http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/183-show-off-your-setup/

Making place your own takes time. Basic things are the way you store/display additional gear, games (non-digital) and other "swag" you happen to have. Posters, figures etc are to add up.

For me desk is just place to game and work. Nothing more. So place where I display things I like is my bookshelf. Besides books, it has my cds, dvds, memories, pics and rock collection with almost all of them. Rest of rocks are where ever they can be fitted.
