So, first of all, i have NO PC at the moment. This is no upgrade, this is a build.

I've been thinking the following : I want to make some videos, not too fancy though. I want to game in good specs, and I play games that are very CPU intensive. I'm wondering if I should get the I5 4670K for €210, the I7 4770k €310 or the I7 4790k €330.

My upcoming rig, in best case scenario (the 780ti version can change) : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9MZPQ7

I will be overclocking.

I'll also be playing Star Citizen in the future, and one of the dev's said that we'll need hyperthreading and 16 gigs of ram. This kind of fits in to my editting ideas, so I thought I'd mention it.

The questions are, is the performance between the i5's and the i7's in light video-editting worth the price tag?

As I'll be playing games that depend on CPUs, will the 4ghz stock of the 4790k be better to overclock, to get better performance?

Also, I'll be SLI'ing the 780ti in the future, and all the cpu's fit in my budget. If I go for the most expensive one, I just can't get extra's, but everything you see on the pcpartpicker, is purchasable.

The only thing I can think to change in there is to get an MSI Gaming 5, not that Z87 board.

I say go for the 4790K.

Hi There!

-I'd Prefer to Watercool your Cpu

-Change your MoBo to a z97 Platform(Because There are alot of incompatibilities with The New Haswell Refresh CPU's and the z87 Platform)

-Get a Non-Reference 780ti (Preferably the Sc ACX non-reference model from EVGA)

-If you want Great Airflow, I'd Ditch the Define r4 and go for the Air 540 or the Phanteks enthoo Pro

-The 1000wat PSU is Overkill Wouldn't you Say? I've heard that the RM series Is Like an Oven and has Ltec Capacitors

(If you'd Stay With a 1000Wats I'd Go For the EVGA Supernova G2 Because it has a 10/10 from jonnyguru)

No.

Thanks for not giving me the helpful feedback so that I can actually help you.

Why is it that you don't want it? The case? The RAM? The CPU cooler? The GPU? The mobo?!?!??!?!?!?!?!!?

You will buy in belgium? Its good to check hardwareversand.de and if you decide the shipping costs are covered and you spare lots of cash, you use idealo.de to put hardwareversand items into cart so its cheaper.

Get 97 mobo.

The build looks good. Check prices on noctua D15 also.

You simply didn't answer my questions, you didn't give any helpful feedback yourself. People think they can just post pcpartpicker links and answer a question, while it doesn't even remotely answer anything. However I do appriciate the time you put in to making that link, I just don't see why you wouldn't defend the build with some lines or even one sentence of text?

Go with the 4790k, if you are pushing the CPU it will outperform the i5 by a decent amount and there is no point getting the older 4770k.

As others have said, get a z97 board. There are plenty of good choices, I personally love my ASUS maximus 7 hero but it can be a little pricey.

Get a AIO water cooler, Corsair H110 is great if your case supports it.

No need for 1000w PSU... 600-800 is plenty (depending if you want to SLI)

Grab a 780 instead of 780ti, performance difference isn't worth the price. Save the money and get another in the future for SLI or put the savings towards a better headset or something.

CPU: AMD 5950X    MB: Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero    RAM: HyperX Predator 64GB    GPU: Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti FE    SSD: Seagate FireCuda 530 2TB
PSU: EVGA 1200w P2    COOLING: EK AIO Elite 360    CASE: Fractal Design Torrent
DISPLAY: LG CX48 4k OLED    AUDIO: HIFIMAN Arya SE

Hey, thanks for the reply. I will be SLI'ing my 780ti, but I don't know quite when, so I'll go with a more powerful card right now. The price difference is marginal between a 800 or 1000.

I'll browse for a z97 :)

As I said in another post last night I was pretty dam tired, and I was just about to sleep and I only just posted the list, because, as I said I was really quite tired. I'm at work atm so when I get home I'll have some reasons for the changes.

actualy the 4770K and 4790K are the same chip they perform exactly the same, they improved thermals on the 4790K for ''technically'' allowing beter overclocking but it's not always the case...so i would say this to you:

IF you are an experienced user that would indeed overclock that CPU a lot, the 4790K with a z97 board is the one to go with, but if you only want a normal 4.3GHZ or 4.4GHZ overclock then save yourself some money and get

the 4770K with a Z87 motherboard (Z87 board are better priced as well...)

If you pick the 4770K you could go with only a good quality air cooler and still get a good 1.25v overclock...that should bring you in the 4.3 to 4.5GHZ range easily, i use only a 29$ hyper 212 and my CPU run's at 4.3Ghz with 1.2v and the temps are very good.

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR
