You can find 2nd hand EPIC cards if you are willing to risk it.

Sometimes there is no risk at all.

99%+ positive feedback over thousands of items is a good sign of a great store.

I was looking yesterday for an older cheap card to play 900p resolution games with 50fps on an old dualcore 2.6ghz with an SSD cache drive driving a 1TB 7200RPM.

So far I'm in $110, and wanting to keep this build under $300 I didn't mind 2nd hand 7000 series cards,

(I'm AMD Primary, Nvidia Secondary) But I'm sure there are 570/580/670/680's out there too.

I keep seeing 7870's (270x) for $80-140. 7850's for $70-140.

I keep seeing 6950's for $150 or less (But the 7850/7870 do better overall performance wise anyway)

Keep looking everyday and find some great 'buy it now' prices, or maybe even wait some 'auctions' out with a bid..wait...maybe win if not try again...

If not going this route, fair enough, all up to you, but just posting my experience on ebay yesterday.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

if you were to get a second hand card, i would avoid AMD, because of mining reasons

EVGA 750ti FTW edition is a good card. Comes. With dual fans to cool as it is up to 30% more powerful and power efficient compared to the original 750ti. Uses maxwell architecture, meaning u will save money on your power bills and it is a little less than the 270x, so goog for a budget build

I'd normally suggest an R7 265 at $150, but your CPU will be a noticeable bottleneck. I suggest an R7 260X or GTX 750 (non-Ti) at most. You should be able to go medium-high on new games at 1600x900 or lower resolutions. Medium at most at 1080p. You'll get very playable framerates if the title isn't CPU intensive.

The A6-5400K has CPU performance in the same league as a Penryn or Wolfdale-based Core 2 Duo. It's quite outdated.

is it better than a r7 265 or a gtx 660

In terms of performance:

R7 265 > GTX 660 > GTX 750 Ti.

Actually I'd say the R7 265 and GTX 660 are pretty equal, but I've seen the R7 265 eek out a bit more performance than the GTX 660 in most reviews, so it's officially faster. The GTX 750 Ti doesn't stand a chance against either card, but on the upside, most GTX 750 Tis don't need external power. You just plug it in the PCI-E slot and go.

No, not even the factory overclocked GTX 750 Tis (which actually requires external power) overclocked could match an R7 265 or GTX 660 on stock. The performance difference is too great. Then again, that's expected since the GTX 750 Ti is strangled by its narrow 128-bit bus. The GTX 750 Ti could get close to the R7 265 and GTX 660 if you lower settings to high and disable anti-aliasing, but once you go ultra and enable even just 2x MSAA, it becomes clear that the performace of the GTX 750 Ti is a tier below. It's very good given its low power consumption, but ultimately, it's slower. The R7 265 and GTX 660 are simply the best performers at $150, with the slight edge towards the R7 265 on newer titles.

BTW, the EVGA FTW edition isn't even the fastest factory overclocked GTX 750 Ti.

I totally agree with u about it being worse than the r7 265 and gtx 660, I was just putting it out there as a cheap option if he wanted to go NVDIA

wow, you have an FM2+ motherboard (good news friend)

you can jump to a A10 with that motherboard

and you will have a more powerful CPU and iGPU in the same buy  ^_^

you can even get a A10 7850k with that cool motherboard

on the cards you can buy, get a R9 270 (if you don't want the A10)

APU = A10
