Difference between PCIe Slots Help

Wassup Göys,

 

I was just curious about the difference between PCIe x16 and PCIe x8 speeds.

I have my GTX 780 Ti slotted in a PCIe x16. But if I moved it to the x8, will I see drastic performance drops?

Or if I SLI'd with two 780 Ti's (I don't think I am though! ), will I have FPS drops? Or any other consequences?

PCI-E 3.0 x8 speeds is like PCI-E 2.0 X16

 

not much drop

 

in SLi the PCI-E 16 lanes will be split to x8/x8

8x runs at half the bandwidth of 16x but if it's a 3.0 slot you won't see any performance drop.

It would barely make any difference, perhaps a couple of % if the card somehow exceeds the bandwitdh at 8x

 

SLI is perfectly fine, both cards will run at x8, you would not get any FPS drops
