I understand its all Dependant on what you do. But i remember on an episode of the wan show Linus maxed out his ram (8gb) just browsing the internet. This is an extreme case. However games are taking advantage of more ram. I feel with the increased capacity in ddr 4 we will see everything requiring 16gb and that will most likely be the minimum capacity available. So I reccomend 16gb to most people now. Incurious to what you recommend.

I recommend a mobo with 4 slots, but an 8GB kit and upgrade later if necessary.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

I always recommend 8GB. That won't change for a while, IMO anyways.

I will say quickly:

4Gb     Office Tasks, light Web Browsing, light Gaming and multimedia tasks.

8Gb     Moderate Web Browsing,  Mainstream Gaming and light content edition.

16Gb   Heavy Web Browsing, enthusiast gaming and moderate content creation.

Yeah linus really need that ram cause as he said re rarely close his browser to quick access to the info he needs.

Well in my case while i browse having 30 tabs and having in some cases games open behind my ram never get over 6gb of 8gb total.

of course 4gb is for like just youtube. like watching it an d type blogs on your most macbooks

8gb is just like standard. you need 8gb to do most things. 8gb is the sweet spot to do everything. no 16 gb is like strong gaming video i=editing rendering virtual machines. 32 gb is just for overkill. 64 gb is a server. 128 gb is just a very big server

If they're on a budget, I'd recommend 8GB. If they have a fair amount of money to spend, then I'd suggest 16GB (for gaming that is). I find that I go over 8GB very often when I have Chrome, a video and a game running.

nothing will require 16gb for a very very long time (except cad/rendering programs). Most apps are still 32-bit meaning 4gb maximum. Right now 16GB is more than enough and will be for years.

haha I know a few games that use more than 8gb's.

8gb's is really the sweet spot but 16gb is my sweet spot and a few others. depends what you use the computer for.

Computing enthusiast.
