why does chrome play 4k so badly

so my chrome cant play 4K video very well but it works fine on firefox any one no why? fix?

l Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.5Ghz l Asus VII Ranger ROG l MSI GTX 970 @ 1555MHz l

because it sucks, use Firefox

just make the switch to Firefox bro, it's faster and obviously does 4K better

It might not be using hardware acceleration. Check your cpu usage in task manager when you play the video in Chrome and compare it to Firefox. If it's a YouTube video, you can also right click it then go to "stats for nerds" to see if it's using software or hardware decoding. There might be a fix by not using the native adobe flash plug-in, but I have yet to test it with 4k.

Also, 4k YouTube actually looks better even on a 1080p monitor because of fewer compression artifacts then 1080p.
