PC Processor upgrade

In a few days i will be 17 and so i decided to upgrade my processor. I am thinking about buying the i5 4670k with a suitable motherboard.

Is this a good choice or do i go for an AMD equivalent???

Please Help...

PS: My PC is purely used for gaming.

You could use either the 4670K or 4690K instead if that's within your budget.

I second what @GingerbreadPK said, however please say what cpu you have now so we can tell you if it's a worthy investment or if you should wait/keep what you have. If you have a second or third generation i5 cpu it makes no sense to upgrade.

At the moment Intel makes the better CPU's. Especially in terms of heat output. AMD if you can't afford Intel. 4670K/4690K with a Z87 or Z97 motherboard respectively.

Depends on your budget. FX-6300 or FX-8350.

for gaming pick an intel cpu they perform better, if you cant afford those unlocked ''k'' cpu, look for an i5-4460 with an h97 motherboard since this is still better than amd for gaming and cost about the same!
