I recently pulled the cord on my g430's too hard and now the sound cuts in and out.

Im looking for either a headset or headphones+mic to replace the g430's.

The headset im looking at is

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826247002

Why do i want it? Specifically because it has a detachable cord. My previous 2 headsets had problems with the cord. And i know ill probably be able to replace the cord on this one if something happens. Plus in reviews ive heard it has good sound for gaming. Maybe not the best for music but i don't really care about that.

Then i have an option to go with headphones and a attachable mic.

I want something around 60 bucks and looks decent, not like it was made in 2000. And a good quality mic. Also prefer if it had a detachable cord feature.

Not gonna find too many detachable cable headsets or headphones at this pricepoint unless you go used headset/headphones. The Func HS-260 is okay but 'audiophile' headphones have better sound quality for the price.

Im not really an audiophile. I just need to be able to hear footsteps and other things in games like CSGO and COD. Im just leaning towards the hs 260 because of that functionality.

Which headphones would you suggest?

As I don't know how the comfort is with the Func headphones, I'd suggest the Corsair 1400 because of SQ and comfort (8/10) but it doesn't have a detachable cable.

Id say go with the CHC Silverado. It is 50$ on amazon and has a great all metal and leather construction with a detachable ,yet proprietary, cable. It also sounds great. I have had the Steelseries Siberia V2, Sennheiser pc 350 and the Razer Carcharias and it has been my experience that gaming headsets do not offer better positional awareness over a good set of non-gaming headphones. As for a mic for 10$, i'm not really sure. I just use the microphone on my webcam as people have told me they preferred it over my headset's microphones.

All that said, I don't think you will go wrong getting the Func headset for 60$. I haven't personally listened to it but i'm pretty sure it will be worth your money for what you get.

Link to the Silverado's if you are interested.

Those headphones really do look bad though. Are there any other headphones that might be better?

Ive looked at those and i dont think they are more comfortable than the func. Is the sound quality alot better for it being pricier?

I think they look quite good =P I've heard good things about some of Superlux's headphones but I can not vouch for them personally.

These have a detachable cable

The Steelseries Siberia V2 are pretty good and quite comfy. Just make sure to bend the metal frame a bit to match your head size and they'll be great.

I don't know what the Func's sound like so I cannot give you valid information on that sorry, I would recommend some Superlux headphones and a ModMic.

Thanks ill look into it. Based on reviews though the func did have nice sound quality. Ill just have to choose one.

You might laugh but I've used a lot of headphones over the last couple of years and I picked a up a rocketfish gaming headset for 15 dollars at best but and the mic was phenomenal and it had a detachable cable and a included USB DAC.

No offense, but this phrase utterly confuses me. Audio is audio.

FYI, Amazon's pictures look pretty bad. IRL they are much better. :)

Absolutely.

That's what most headsets should be priced like. There's tons of good OEM stuff available on Amazon similarly cheap. Good find.
