Last time I shipped a PC, I removed the GPU, and places that in it's own foam padded box. As for inside the PC I got lots of those packing peanuts and put them inside a static-free bag and made sure it was completley filled with them. If the PC is water cooled, drain the loop to be as safe as possible.

Welcome to the forum, @Keven

What case are you shipping? If it came with closed cell foam, you should be ok if you do some padding and double boxing. Take out the GPU and the CPU cooler if it isn't stock.

Don't be negligent and leave the GPU in there. I shipped it all the way to Japan. The result? The card snapped in half and ripped the slot out.

for 1 card? what the hell! Did he keep it?

No. 4K for the card setup, another 2K for the rest of system. He was a whore. Pain in the ass to deal with. Plus, we needed a translator, which complicated things. He demanded his 6K USD back, which is like IDK how many yen.

Nope. All 4 GPUs snapped, and ripped the slots out. Also, the GPU loop was ruined and spilled coolant all over the PC, destroying it. And no, he hasn't shipped it back. I blame the cargo plane for not taking precautionary measures. They should know they are handling fragile objects.

you are probably right. With the waterblock being thinner and lighter than the stock cooler I don't see why they should snap. I see with a customer why you wouldn't want to ship is disassembled.

Well, it's partly his fault. He asked me explicitly to send it as a whole, don't disassemble anything. What a faggot he is.

if you can ship the PC in the case box within an outer box that has nothing to do with expensive stuff, for example something like an IKEA chair. It has gone wrong to many times in the sense that you PC was lost in shipping because somebody in the process of transporting needed a expensive PC  :o.

Just make sure people working in transport know that there is such value in that box of yours ;)

what I usually recommend as a middle ground is to leave the loop in with coolant, pop the card out of the slots, leave them just above, cut foam to match the cards to go in between them, use string to tie the cards and foam together like a sandwich, and finally tie the tip of the cards to the pci slots. All they have to do it cut, remove foam, and snap in. they have to deal with it. If you absolutely must not disassemble, foam in between is better than nothing, even if you leave in slots. Personally I think unless he gave pictures he scammed you.

Yeah, but this is a guy who doesn't even know how to turn on a PC, much less try to put in a GPU. Plus, it was on it's way back, but it was reported stolen at Tokyo Int'l. I would be like, "SHIT."
