The PlayStation 4 remained the best-selling console in the United States last month, according to NPD figures cited by Sony, despite Microsoft's attempts to drive sales of its Xbox One console by introducing a cheaper model. Microsoft was able to double its sales of its Xbox One console in June with the release of a $399 model that didn't include motion-sensing camera Kinect, but it apparently still wasn't enough to knock Sony off the top spot.

 

You know what, Microsoft, good job on doubling sales of the Xbox One. I'm actually very happy for you, but it will take a lot more than that to dethrone the PS4. Even though Microsoft doubled their sales, the PS4 still outsold it for that month, giving the PS4 six consecutive wins. Let's wait to see what the numbers look like around Christmas time, because that's when a surge of people will go to buy an Xbox One or PS4 again (mainly), and now they're the same price.

Now this isn't their usual BS like them saying they sold x amount of consoles but most of those were to stores, is it?

I don't believe so. I believe it's just for actual consumer sales. I could be wrong though.

Month before was 4 sales weeks. This last month was 5 weeks. It is just how some monthly numbers go with the NPD. Numbers will be out soon.

 

You are comparing 4 sales weeks to 5 sales weeks so double is pretty much spin.

Nah. NPD will be solid sales and not shipped. They undoubtedly did better. Not double (see sales weeks in the NPD) but they had some pretty ridiculous deals at Gamestop etc on trade in on an old system as well as 75-100 dollars deals sent to Xbox 360 owners.

Watchdogs on Xbox 360 outsold Xbox One. NPD DOES NOT INCLUDE DIGITAL SALES LIKE STEAM. Mario Kart did well almost outselling PS4 Watch Dogs 2:1.
