So I know this has been asked on this forum and other forums around the internwebz (I've read some) but I still want to have someone give me their personal advice and points of view.

So which one should I really take? And whats the biggest difference between the two? Since they're both slightly similar.

also I don't have a good foundation in terms of mathematics since I didn't really go through high school.

(long story short: I was homeschooled throughout my high school life with no one to really check on my studies since both my parents were busy with work and they couldn't just hire a tutor for me *seriously complicated story.*

I had 24/7 access to the internet and was highly exposed to all computer related stuff from hardware to software and porn. And because of that, I started to develop my love and knowledge on computer related things and since I didn't finish high school *not even till 2nd year,* so obviously I'm a complete underdog esp. in terms of math since I didn't even get enough exposure to algebra, and finally because of that I took a special exam which allows me to get into college etc. I passed the special exam, and passed the schools entrance exam and miraculously got my ass into college. I may have made the mistake of taking CS tho.)

So ya, first semester just started, and I'm thinking of shifting courses to IT while its still really early since it has lesser math compared to CS.

If you are not into maths and crazy stuff like that than I find computer science hard to recommend

Perhaps look for a more general IT study

Go for a Computer Science degree, I've got one and found a job easily. Make pretty good money from it too, if you have an interest in networking minor in Networking Security.

Dont bring matches into this ;)

I agree a CS degree is probably worth more, but it really depends what areas of computers interest the OP, I have read through my friends computer science university course and did not understand a single sentence

It largely depends on what college you go to on whether or not you will have a lot of math or not. Along with how hard the classes are some teachers are just naturally good at teaching and others are meeh ok and it will take longer to catch on. But it also depends on your ability to learn, do CS as your minor just incase you don't like or something.

*snip*

Important life decisions like what degree to get isn't something I'd leave up to a forum, even if the users on here are pretty great. You're better off talking to the appropriate college personnel about this stuff and doing your own research.

My two cents: I recently read an article on Yahoo saying how the IT job market is saturated and that you're better off doing Computer Science to have more job security and better pay. You could also do something that has more contact points with more relevant studies in today's economy like Business Informatics or Business IT & Management.

Matches provide a lot of fun though :(

Computer science can be used for a wide variety of jobs to. Depending on there curriculum you will get ccna 1-2 and ccnp 1-4 certs. They will help you qualify for a lot of networking jobs. But @Shaqo_Wyn is right it's your life you shouldn't go to a forum seeking advice on what degree you should get. Go with whatever interests you the most, if you want to be a computer technician I would tread lightly in that field. Computer's are getting so cheap most people don't want to pay for them to be fixed, especially when you can buy a new one form Wal-Mart at the same price.

Have you looked into Computer Systems Technology? That degree will also get you a lot of useful information and fetch a job fairly easy.

thanks guys! and yaa I guess asking an advice to such a degree on a forum isn't the brightest thing to do, but anyways I'm gonna talk to my guidance councilor as well as my dean.

The other thing is its not really about finding a good paying job since everything thats related to computer is a passion for me, heck I'd take computer engineering if only math wasn't involved at all.

nonetheless thanks! I appreciate the advice!  :D  :D  :D
