He means an AMD Radeon R9 280. (or R9 280x) It would give you access to Mantle which is beneficial in some games. I have a Sapphire dual-x r9 280, haven't used it yet.

Just a guess but I'd say 50ish FPS Maxed settings most games.

will take me some time to save up for mine, i have £125 in bank and my parents will match what i save so i have to get £350 (i am paid £20 a week at work)

Unless you need an Nvidia feature the 280 is a better deal all the way. The 760 is priced terribly right now.

+1, trust this guy, I was on the same situation like you. The 280 and the 760 have almost the same price. Even if you get a bad 280 that doesn't overclock more than 20Mhz (wich is very unlikely), you will get a nice card that beat the 760 by some FPS at stock speeds and a extra GB of VRAM. It's a no-brainer.
