How high should I overclock my CPU?

I'm planning on buying a computer with Intel Core i5 4690k, with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. I was wondering what the optimum clock speed would be for it - please help out

Each chip will achieve a different speed, its a bit of a lottery. Although I'd aim for a minimum of 4.2ghz. You might get higher/lower though.

 

Just make sure you don't set the voltage too high.

To answer your question is go as high as you want however restrict yourself to a maximum temp of ~75-80 and a maximum voltage 1.35 (which ever comes first). As for the multiplier go as high as your cpu will allow you.

I would set the multiplier to 40 at stock volts and work up from there. I would expect a 4690k to reach at least 4.4GHz but each chip is different. Just increase your voltage when needed to maintain stability with the max being 1.35V and making sure the temps don't go over 80ºC and you should be good

Just watch your voltage, and bump it up as high as you can within reasonable temps and voltage. Stability test.

Whichever you are comfortable with:

• Stock
• Balls to the walls, as far as the CPU will go
• Whatever speed you are comfortable with (speed-wise and temperature-wise)

Even a stock i5-4690K will have no problems destroying through games.
