Wireless speeds slow

Hello All, I am getting horrible Internet download/ upload speeds, like less than a Megabyte... But my Ookale speedtest gives almost 10 MBps both ways, and a Ping of 30. In the Task Manager it says my Link Speed is 13 MBps (I assume this is based of of my Router speed which is 300 MBps) The PC's WiFi is a Dell 1501 (Can't find the speeds online). 

 

I assume the slow speeds are my Hard Drive being slow. As it is several years (5). The Drives are 7200 RPM, Sata 3Gb/s HDD. (Model is a Dell Inspiron 2305 2.4 Ghz).

 

Here is the rest of the Specs in my system if needed.

 

Ram - 6Gb 1333 MHz (Couldn't find brand name for it)

CPU - AMD Athelon II 2.4Ghz

Wireless Card - Dell 1501.

HDD - Sata 3Gb/s 7200 RPM (Lack of Brand Name)

GPU - Radeon HD 5470 1 GB 

 

Windows 7 64 Bit

 

Any help is appreciated.

Is this 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n or 802.11ac?
If it's 5 years old, it's most likely an 802.11n... Your wifi router might be the one causing problems...

This happens to me occasionally. I found that a quick restart of my router seemed to fix it.

Nothing wrong with 802.11n though if your devices don't support 802.11ac. But yeah, if it's old it may be causing problems. @niofalpha try borrowing one from a friend and see what's happening.

Bet that's your problem. Dell 150x wifi cards are terrible and for some reason tend to start working at less than 200KB/s.Nothing to do with drivers or any other factors. They just burn out somehow. 

I have had tons of those fail when I worked IT and we had dell latitudes.

I even had to replace it on my personal one.  

You can get a good intel used wifi card for ~5$ on ebay.
