Handicapping my laptop?

Hi

I have a laptop with an i7 (forgot the model number), radeon 6770M and 4GB of ram. It is quite slow at times especially when I am using a lot of tabs in chrome, and I use all my ram easily. If I upgrade my laptops ram will it speed it up? If so, how much should I upgrade? I do a bit of video editing in premiere pro and after effects and I would like to game a bit.

4GB of ram is simply not enough for most people these days. 8GB would be a good upgrade.
