Installing 8.1 via USB

I am going to be doing this tonight and just wanted to check and see if this vid from NCIX is still valid for 8.1.

I will be buying 8.1 pro from G2A to use.

 

Any advice or guidance is greatly appreciated. I have never used a USB drive for OS installation before.

you can download a tool that lets you put the installation on a USB. You can find it here. I know it says windows 7, but it works just as well for windows 8.

Grab the 8.1 iso and make it bootable with a tool called rufus.

This is how I did mine, used a 32GB usb stick. You could get by with a 4GB, but I would recommend at least 8GB to be safe.

I have a 32GB drive ordered because I didnt have anything larger than 2GB. It should be delivered today along with a nice big pile of other goodies from Newegg. Thanks for the reply!

You will need to download the 8.1 .iso through the microsoft tool using the key you get. 

That .iso is going into the usb drive then.

 

So just to be clear, The .iso comes with the download from Microsoft correct?

If you purchase it on G2A.com you will get a Windows 8.1 Product Key. Now go to this page, click on "Install Windows 8.1" and you will download a little program. 

Open it and it'll ask you for your product key, just enter it and the download starts. Once it's finished you have a few options i think, you can either upgrade directly (which you obviously don't want) 

or you can save the .iso image (which you want), burn it on a dvd/usb-stick with this tool.
