I was re-doing my thermal paste on my 8350 and I got just a tad of thermal paste on 3 of the pins. Thankfully right on the outer square, how should I remove this?

I'd just take a lint free cloth and gently wipe it off.

Edit: Yassarikhan786 ninja'd me :P

Me: Yeah I just really can't get my H220 working again, I've tried everything that was suggested in the forum.

Brian (Swiftech Support): Hmm, have you tried slapping it?

I don't need to dab the cloth in anything?

You can dab it in rubbing alcohol, AKA 99%, but frankly,if you wipe it clean, it will be ok, it's not rocket science.

Not sure if this will work like i imagine it will in my head, but get a needle and try and get as much out of it carefully then get the cloth and wipe it off.

Frankly could I just use a muscle shirt that's fresh out of the wash? Because I can't find any lint free cloth lol

NO NEVER YOU'RE GOING TO SCRATCH IT!!!

Unless you have something in the shape of a needle but that's not going to scratch it or will be very carefull then go ahead.

Yes on the toothpick that shouldn't scratch it, idea was good just not the fact that it involved metal against metal.

This idea is in fact better then the other one, easier to not damage the pins.

So can I use a toothpick?

Could I use floss?

Anything will do, people, it's just a bunch of metal pins, clean it with anithing that won't leave residue.

Ok, this is how it's done ...

Place the cpu in a vice sideways and really tighten as hard as possible , then use a grinder to gently grind away all paste making sure to really put a lot of pressure when grinding those pins ! Remove the cpu from the vice and inspect for any remaining paste HAHAHA :D

OR you could do the Alcohol on a nice soft cloth and gently dab the "infected" pins, this is best !
