So I ordered a Zalmam clip on mic. (Zalman ZM-1 Mic http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HZOVW0Q/ref=twister_B00HZOVVXE).

I was wondering, what is the audio spliter used for? I only have speculations.

Two mic inputs or two headphone outputs.

What purpose exactly does this serve?

So you can use your mic, and have another mic also, both connected to your computer. I use these so I can have audio going to two pairs of headphones at the same time. Simple concept.

Don't know why they gave it to you though.

Because I ordered it. Foolish me. Will the volume drop if two headphones are being used?

I don't really notice a volume drop that would annoy me, it depends on how power hungry your headphones are. I just will compensate with a higher volume setting.

You guys mind giving me tips on how to break into my Superlux 688B and making em comfortable? The clamping is very high!

And, what good third party software can give a volume boost? Other than drivers and windows.

Software volume boosts are pretty shit, they can make it sound distorted and crackly. Your superlux headphones are 56 ohms and will be fine without that crap.

Yesterday I plugged my HD800s into a netbook.

It was actually so loud I had to turn down the volume. I was surprised. Ok, sound wasn't of perfect quality, but it was still much better than I expected.

We're talking an old ass Atom single core proc Acer Aspire One. Which leads me to believe if a person needs audio raised above max, they need to get their ears checked.

Now I wanna stick an HE-6 in there to see what happens. It might create a black hole.
