2600$ Gaming Build

Go to solution Solved by brob,

I don't really don't want to change up my whole build. Would appriciate a change or two, and of course I want to know why to changed those parts out :)

Don't know who you are responding to. You must quote their post or use the form @<username> for people to know.

If you are talking about my suggestions, the build was developed before you had posted any details. But I can explain the choices.

An i7-4970K cpu because it fits the budget and will provide additional processing power should newer titles demand it.

The Asus Z97-AR motherboard because it is a high quality board with SLI, good sound, and an Intel Ethernet chip.

The Corsair H105 cpu cooler because it has slightly better performance than the H100i.

2x8GB of memory because I believe that is a better match with an i7. The 1866 Fury memory kit because it fits the general black with light/white accents color theme, has reasonable timings, and is reasonably priced.

The 256GB Crucial MX100 ssd because I believe bigger ssd are better and is from a quality manufacturer. Personally I think people should be trying to go with ssd only builds. But that is still a ways away for most budgets.

The EVGA GTX 780 because it has an excellent cooler and fits the color theme.

The XFX psu because it is a quality Seasonic built, 80+ Gold, modular unit. 850W to allow for a second gpu and overclocking.

Do not really know what to buy, so I would like som help :)

1. Budget & Location
My buget is around 16000 NOK (2600USD). I am going to buy all the parts from Komplett.no so the prices are mostly higher than in other countries because of the customs.

2. Aim
The main aim is gaming, the games vary alot. I just want the computer to run every game smooth

3. Monitors
Currently running in 2 monitors, will ugrade to 3 in the future

4. Peripherals
I already have ordered the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2. Also I have windows. Want to keep on using my old mouse, keyboard and headphones. (R.A.T 3, Saitek Cyborg, Steelseries Siberia Elite)

5. Why are you upgrading?
I am upgrading because my I have a 6 years old computer, and would like to have something new.

So what do you think is the best build for this price ?

I am the biggest, the best, better than the rest!

Central processing unit

i5 4690K

Central processing unit cooling

You can get a high end air cooler like Noctua's NH-D15 or Be Quit's Dark Rock Pro 3 or a closed loop cooler with a 200mm+ radiator ( Hydro h100i, Swiftch H220, etc or a custom loop if you want to do such thing)

Motherboard

Z97 - Whichever you like with the features you need.

Random Access Memory

A single 8GB RAM stick with the option to add a second later. ( Brand doesn't really matter, besides the timing of CL 9 or 10 or better and a clockspeed of above 1600Mhz )

Graphical processing unit(s)

GTX 780 SLI, or a single 780Ti now and a second later. ( By any brand with any cooling configuration you like )

Graphical processing unit(s) cooling

You could add your cards to a custom loop if you are doing one, or just keep the normal air-cooling on the unit itself.

Storage configuration

500GB SSD. ( Any brand like AData, Kingston, Samsung )

3TB HDD. ( By Western Digital or Seagate for example, there are other good manufacturers too )

Power supply

AX 760i PSU or an equivalent.

Chassis

Personal preference, must be the same form factor as the motherboard ( as obvious ), and you already have one.

Peripherals:

Mouse: Logitech G502, Corsair Vengeance M95Steelseries Sensei, or any other mouse.

Keyboard: Logitech G710+, Corsair Vengeance K70 ( or K95 if you want macros ), CM Storm Quickfire Ultimate or a Ducky Shine 3 with whatever MX switch and led configuration you'd like.

Any headphones/speakers/microphone you like.

What resolution are your current monitors ? Are you just gaming on one of them ? Also when you add a 3rd monitor do you intend on gaming across all 3 ?

Currently I am only gaming on one of them, beause of my graphics card isn't able to run it on both. Would like to play across all 3 on the future. Not sure what resolution I am currently running on, can't check either because I am offshore at the moment, I am using BenQ 24" LED GL2450

Check my edited post, what's your opinion on the configuration I wrote for you?

I like it. But what GTX 780 would you recomend? (Gigabyte, MSI, etc). And I think I will just go with a small SSD, and rather spend some more on the other parts, if this is a good idea... ?

I don't have alot experience with different manufacturers, I have an EVGA GPU myself and the units with the ACX cooling are really popular and they perform really well.

And also EVGA's warranty and customer support is excellent.

But MSI, Gigabyte, Asus and such are also top notch. ( Some are better cooled than others, but a simple Google search will provide you with enough information )

If I am going to order it through Amazon, Newegg, etc. I need to pay 25% fee to get it trough customs. I would also prefer a Nvidia GPU than Asus

sorry i should have made this clean in my post but its just a list of parts try finding them in local stores. as for gpu's i went with 290x's because of the 4gb memory will do better across 2+ monitors but if you must have a nvidia gpu a titan or a titan black would bge perfect however they are $1000 if you cant afford them go with sli 780's or 270ti's

In Norway the titan black is priced at 1300 USD, and that is the cheapest one. So I wonldn't go for that.

The Benq monitor is 1080p, so if you want to game on three of them, then 780 sli should cope fine.

@SAV1OUR has a good base to work from with that spec.

I would change the following parts though:

PSU - EVGA Supernova G2 850W if you can get it.

SSD - Crucial MX100 (Should be cheaper than the Samsung Evo, and is a good SSD for the money)

Something like the Asus DCUII would be a good choice for the 780 cards.

Can't get the EVGA Superova G2 850W tho... Should I go for a Corsair RM850 ?

If you can fit either of these in your budget, then they are better than the Corsair RM. They should be fine for GTX 780 sli.

Looks good! You may want some more/different case fans just to make it more personal/awesome since you have a large budget. This system puts out quite some heat, so maybe some extra airflow fans?

Well, in Norway this pretty much uses up my whole budget, but I will add some more fans, probably some Noctua fans
