So a couple very good friends at MIT have told me about some of the innovative tech going into the new campus supercomputer cluster. This Hybrid Memory Cube tech on paper looks like the end of DDR memory. Not even memristor tech looks like it will hold a candle to this.

Of course, they don't come cheap. A 128GB "stick" I've been told costs roughly $12,500 and only works with some FPGA configurations to be able to saturate it, and a 64GB "stick" costs roughly $9,800. These prices are obviously exorbitant.

When do we think this will hit servers, enthusiasts, and the general consumer?

It had better be more than twenty years from now...i want to get my monies worth for the price i paid for my RAM......

Well given it hits servers in Q1 of 2015, it may not be more than 5 years, though that price is impossible to sustain.

the only person that needs this is linus with all those damn tabs open

Wrong. APU graphics run on a 320GB/s bandwidth. Goodbye graphics cards xD.
