Foxconn using robots to boost iPhone production

Foxconn, Apple’s primary Chinese manufacturer for its iPhone smartphones , is allegedly incorporating some 10,000 robots into its assembly line process in anticipation of heightened iPhone 6 production.

Each of the planned robots is set to cost between $20,000 – $25,000, and won’t be available to other manufacturers.

Foxconn is still currently in the final testing stages of the robots, which are each expected to produce 30,000 smartphones.

 

Pretty neat, though I'm a little surprised they didn't have automation like this already.

I don't think it'll affect the workforce there too much either, considering they just hired another 100,000 workers.

300,000,000 iPhones (seeing as they state it's only for Apple production) just by the robots alone. Insane. I wonder how many their human counterparts pump out.

 

Apple fans, I'm curious. If you were to upgrade, would you go for the 4.7" or 5.5" model?

I'd go for a 4,7" but I rather want a 4.4".

If I HAD to buy an iPhone, I'd go for the 5.5" model. But I much prefer android to iOS, so the new iphone isn't even a consideration for me.

Yeah I'm not a fan either. Personally I'm pretty surprised at the leaked images of the next iPhone, I figured they'd have these razor thin bezels to keep the size down and a really slick look.

Instead it looks...ugly imo. Quite ugly.

TBH I think it just looks like every other iPhone since the 4.

Stupid move, first they laugh at the 4,3" phones that they are way too big and 3,5" is perfect, then they go to 4" and say it's perfect for one hand and now they make some big stupid Android-ish slab of a phone, I wish they would make a 4-inch one too.

Also, I hate the rounded design of the leaked dummys, i'd much rather keep the sharp, industrial design of my 5s.

To be fair, they're just going with market trending. Which any good company that wants to keep sales up will do.

Also, the iPhone 5 compared to the 3gs is only 8mm taller and actually 4mm narrower, which makes it easier to handle.

 

Personally I find 4" way too small. The iPhone 5, too light. It's well built but just didn't have the features I need in a device for work.

Each to their own though.
