So Hi (firstly) im new here but been following Linus on YouTube for a while now and I thought I'd best try here rather than with EA.

So I am a HUGE Titanfall Fan. Was a beta participant and everything but Recently (Very recently) I have encountered a huge cockup in the game.

I want to generate revenue from gameplays on YouTube and streaming via Twitch and since I am actually good at Titanfall (better than I am at CoD) I record Titanfall. I am halfway through a series called ROAD TO THIRD.

My recording program is PLAYCLAW 5 (Steam version) and when I load Titanfall with Playclaw (or even Xsplit, Fraps, Raptr, DXtory) open... it lags out. Frames drop to 1 frame every 3 seconds (So like 0.3FPS) and if I ALT TAB out it pops up "Titanfall.exe has stopped working"
I have done a fresh install of Titanfall (all 50GB of it) and still the same.

I have tried opening up the recorder AFTER the game but I still end up with the game crashing on a Black Screen.

Can anyone shed some light upon my subject?

All help will be tried.

I can vouch for using Shadow Play with Titanfall, I use it all the time with no issues. No one should ever be spending $37 on FRAPS. What's possibly causing your issue is Titanfall is 64-bit, and not many overlay programs have been set up or updated to correctly work with 64-bit programs, and all recording software works as an overlay.

I recorded a lot in that game, the only outcome I was happy with was using the Shadowplay codec through Open Broadcasting Software. Shadowplay itself was sub optimal picture wise, and the push-to-talk TOGGLE ONLY mode pissed me off no end. But OBS did the job.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Like I said - All other programs have crashed TItanfall.

Also I use an R9 290x so no shadowplay

Have you tried OBS? There are both release and beta versions for it, so some trial and error may be required. Also, make sure you disable the Origin in game overlay. Conflicting overlays can cause all sorts of problems. Lots of people record Titanfall, so the issue is not with the game. What CPU do you have? If it's a newer Intel CPU you can also try Intel QuickSync.

I have an i5 4670K overclocked to 3.8ghz

Not much but I thought it would be best to try it out ye know

Yep, your CPU support Intel Quick Sync. It has a low performance impact with very good quality. You'll need to enable iGPU in your BIOS settings. http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/quick-sync-video/quick-sync-video-general.html

iGPU stops me from using my 290x.

Playclaw has Quick Sync settings though

Not true about it stopping you from using your 290X. If that was true no one would use Quick Sync.

I honestly think it is due to the size of the game because with every recorder I have tried including xsplit it just it laggy

the reason I say is if you record to a hard drive and you have the game on same hard drive you get the hard drive struggling to do both at the same time if you use DXtory you can see the effect with the write speed dropping to like 5 when you start recording

An absurd and completely untrue statement. Of all the games out there, Titanfall actually puts less operating stress on your HDD due to it's size. It's install size is so big because it doesn't use compressed audio like most games do. So having to uncompress audio on the fly is one less thing your HDD and CPU have to deal with when playing. The OP's issue is due to some unknown problem with his system. People record Titanfall all the time with no problems, and Shadowplay is not the only program capable of doing so.

use game dvr

If you actually knew what the hell you were talking about, or bothered to read the original post, you would know that game dvr already doesn't work for the OP. AMD's game dvr uses the Raptr recording overlay, which he said doesn't work for him right in the original post.

I like Playclaw cuz it allows me to use my webcam and you can get all the audio tracks as different files to put the volume levels up and down with.

I never had this problem before

Again, have you tried disabling the Origin overlay yet?

Sorry not yet. Very busy day. I'll get on to that as soon as and post updates.

Titanfall does not even officially support the Origin overlay in the first place. It's not like STEAM where it's required to work in every game. Yes it does work most of the time for Titanfall, but not officially. Also, as I said before, multiple overlays can create issues, and all those different recording programs work via some sort of overlay. One conflict I've run into, the RivaTuner overlay prevents the Origin overlay from working.

Ok then why is it that this is the only game which the write speed drops that low when you play the game and record with DXtory and because its not compressed it does make it easier for the CPU to handle but the hard drive which like all hard drives has a limit of what it can transfer at once meaning you get an issue with the game taking priority so its transferring all of those uncompressed files all 35gb of the audio then you tell the hard drive to write as your recording on to it and there is no more bandwidth for you to write to due to the uncompressed files. That is how I thought it works but if I am wrong please explain how it actually works so I can adjust my set up accordingly

The uncompressed audio will not come close to maxing the read speed of your HDD, unless you are running some decade old IDE HDD. Those uncompressed audio files also don't write anything to the drive at all, so issues with your write speeds have nothing to do with the game. Except local profile information, the game won't be writing anything to your HDD. Also, it's never transferring the full 35GB of audio files anywhere, or even accessing more than a small fraction of those files. The 35GB of audio files includes the dozen or so languages that the game supports, and all the redundant voice acting that goes with it.

The tiny amount of those audio files that you actually access will have no performance impact on your game play. Just the opposite in fact since your system doesn't have to waste time or resources uncompressing them. While your CPU is taking time to deal with compressed files, it still ties up the activity of the HDD. The compressed files don't magically get handled by CPU while the HDD does nothing.

If you are having issues with recording with DXtory, that's the fault of DXtory and not Titanfall. I can record all day with Shadowplay with absolutely no performance loss of any kind. I also don't have any SSD in my system, so everything is regular old HDDs.

Thanks for clearing that

The write thing is more to do with the arm though due to there isn't two arms in the hard drive so it has to go from reading to writing constantly as much as I hate shadow play (bad experience with it not capturing) I will test it out and see whats going on

Thanks again man

Do yourself a favor and your your games on to a separate drive. It makes a huge difference for a lot of different reasons.
