Hi Guys

There are a number of solutions online to this just wanted to know which way to go.

So basically what I am looking to do is access my HD movie collection on my PC through my Samsun LED smart TV.  Currently both the TV and the PC are wirelessly connected to a Billion router.

At the moment I just copy the file to a USB and click it into the TV to watch.

There's too options,

A) Get a NAS that supports DLNA or Plex and use the smart TV's built in client

or

B) Get a large external HDD and store your media on it, which would then be plugged into the TV.

Personally, if your network can handle it, A) would be my prefered solution, as you can then access media from phones/tablets/computer/other devices, but B) is a good option if you're on a smaller budget/network can't handle it/only want to watch on your TV.

What sort of network can handle a NAS?

Just about anything. As long as you have at least WiFi N or gigabit ethernet, you should be fine.

I think your router has to be DLNA certified. I'm surprised the Samsung TV can't connect to your PC, my Panasonic TV can... Also try using a console if you have one.
