How to make Windows 7 boot faster (please read before posting)

I have already played with MSConfig for a while (decreased the timeout to 10 seconds) and got it a little faster. Don't suggest this unless you actually have to for my case.

 

I've gotten my Dell's boot time lower, but there still seems to be a bit of time when the Windows logo thing is "maximizing" on the screen where it. Does. Absolutely. NOTHING. I was wondering if there was a way to make it actually try and load during this, or if I have to deal with it.

in msconfig (yes i did read) disable gui boot, might make it .5 second faster 

on the boot tab, check "no gui boot" also in advanced options in the same boot tab, enable all 4 cores and ram, might help

I could get an SSD... But that would mean a new power supply, and SATA 1 speeds.

I'll try it. Granted, I am getting ~30 second boots (IDE hard drive and a Pentium 4, bitches ), but every seconds counts.

back on vista i disabled all splash screens, it when from motherboard straight to desktop. Or you could do what i do and time the machine to start 5-10minutes before you wake up.

When I get done installing Office and all of the updates, I'll defrag it and see just how fast it is (beginning of Starting Windows screen to login screen, then I'll put in my password and see how long that takes).

do you NEEEEED a password? i used to have mine password protected but i really didnt need it, it saves a few seconds since you dont need to type it and you can just push the power button and go pee or get a drink and by the time your back you on your desktop

Yes. My sister likes to get into mischief. And I have been using my password for so long it literally takes me less than 2 seconds to type in nowadays. Been using it for 4 or 5 years now.

its harder this summer for some people, i wake up at 6:40am everyday, others with alarm clocks can basically make their pc start, many people have linear sleep scales so it shouldnt be too hard.
