bf4 mic settings ?

hi people i am fairly new to all this pc gaming stuff and just got myself a new head set but cannot figure out how to chat to people i have voip enabled in game and i know its left alt to chat but a quick google search says you can change it to voice activation in battlelog but i cant find any option? also i cant hear anyone anyway so anyone with any insight that can help that would be great

Left alt activates voice chat but is limited to your squad.

I wouldn't bother with the BF4 chat. It was used a buttload in BF3 when i used a PS3 but it is hardly used in BF4 PC. TS3 is the leading voice chat client.

Its ingame setting, not in Battlelog. What I can tell by looking at battlelog (after some googleing) is that if there has been advanced options for settings, they have been removed since. Personally I'm against using voice activation since most people have terrible mics and push-to-talk should be default instead of voice activation. So I think voice actiavation isn't a feature on PC anymore if it ever has been. You would need advanced options and setup wizard for it.
