What are the settings and amounts of mods are you using? Also try uninstalling and re installing minecraft. Also check you drivers make sure they are updated.

I run my own indie game company called Color Dragon Studios where we are currently making a 2d platformer game called Small Earth.

Minecraft is CPU bound. It might be your CPU holding you back. Also, check video settings. You might have FPS limitation (my friends PC limits it to 30FPS randomly when he starts the game).

Minecraft is mainly cpu intensive, graphics cards do not do much for framerate.

so i was reading up on this, have you guys tried going into the catalyst control panel and making a minecraft profile? cause i head the problem was that the cards werent seeing minecraft as a 3d application, and thusly not running at full power. i dont have an AMD card on hand though, so i cant check.

Yes, verify GPU frequency while playing (core clock)

anyone try this? want to know before i buy an AMD card

I had an hd 6670 and it blew minecraft away, no problems.

Hey, I know how to fix the problem, first, you download this file, it will help you to clean all the configuration of your amd graphic card: https://www.amd.com/fr/support/kb/faq/gpu-601

after, you restart your computer in safe mode, run the cleanuputilities program a first time and another time after the finish without restarting your computer, after the second time, you click "restart", and after the reboot, reinstall the amd radeon software and launch modded version of minecraft, and set the vsync to "off", theses steps should change the limitation of fps of minecraft, it worked for me, I have a RX580 nitro+
