Okay so maybe this thread isn't here for the listed question.

THROW the cuffs on me now!

But seriously, i do own an 8320 and personally i LOVE the multi-threaded scaled performance i am seeing in places where it is beneficial.

HOWEVER, i am starting to see how single-thread perf on this isn't the finest. Having moved from a 4440 to this...i see the pros and cons of both.

What i would like to ask though is this?

What are some cool things i can do benchmark-wise or gaming wise that would be cool for this CPU?

I only have 1x 270X for the meantime and intend to CF another in the future, as well as this i also have a 990FX UD3 Rev. 4.0 coming overnight to install and weigh up with.

I did notice earlier though when streaming Alan Wake that performance was hitting 100% at some points....more so when i made the stream FPS 50fps. Would this be due to running high on the 270X or?

Any help or clarification would be nice.

I would go for an i3 and minimum.  The G3258 is good for gaming, but I couldn't handle only having 2 cores.  If I wanted to browse the web and play minecraft at the same time... Well, good luck.

if ONLY for gaming the G3258 offers insane value for money once its overclocked, so if you do not need the extra cores for streaming and stuff like that then go for it.

of course the 8320 will smoke the G3258 and 4440 in multicore functions but it gets beaten every single time "core per core" performance.

Once the G2358 has an overclock that should not be that much of a deal unless you are one of those that have 30++ tabs open at the same time.

This.

I've used my i3 with hyper threading disabled by accident and it's really not that bad for doing a few things at once.

I had concluded that would be the case....i just find myself ultimately asking when will MT really 'take off'?

Multi-core, of course. I recognize AMD needs to figure out the source of their single core issue and bring it upto or on-par with Haswell. Power consumption could rest at a medium level...but something like 90W TDP would be fine by me.

In recognizing this though...i do recognize having owned a 4440 and a GTX 780 before recognizing being a poor student, being in a relationship and working on a solid career wouldn't allow some things.

But in saying that, will ST really win out in the end? Or will i be better served breaking down my Mobo/CPu while i got the time and going for gold?

MTvST.....FIGHT!

We are getting to the point were we cant polish the ST preformance that much anymore so we are bound to see an increase in the MT area, Mantle being one way for it.

99% games hardly uses more then 2-4 threads anyway, that is why so many people say i7's are pointless for gaming, and its been proven that quad cores nearly  are just as pointless when a cheap as hell 2 core processor scores terrifyingly close in gaming benchmarks to stuff like 4670k's and such.

MULTICORES ASSEMBLE!, we really need to start taking advantages of the additional threads in games or we'll bottleneck ourselfs for future GPU's

I think we should not look at games out today but look into the future of gaming. Doesn't help if you can get amazing performance in todays games but in the near future when games start using more cores (This will happen soon enough) The pentium cpu would start to hold you back making you forced to upgrade again. Get something with more cores but might not be as good in todays gaming is good cause in future games you will see it's full potential.

That's why I said in my other thread the pentium G3258 is a really bad CPU. Look at BF4, it lready suck on that cpu and there is so many games making use of frostbite coming.

Well yeah, look at the one out of 4 or 5 games that uses more than 4 cores. As someone mentioned above 99% games do not use more tah 4 cores. Most games uses 2 cores. So...

This unlocked Pentium is so good for enthusiasts and simple pople with no high demands on gamimg in BF4 full server 4K Ultra super duper 120fps stuff. I used Pentium G860 in most Assasins Creed games with HD 7770 at 1080p high setting i got stable 45-60 fps. What else some regular users need?

Exactly where did you find that this CPU is bad for BF4 ?

You can overclock your first two cores and leave the others alone to boost single thread performance where it matters.

Sure the pentium might win in some games, but the AMD is going to give you better all around, general performance. For me at least, that's worth a few FPS less in games.
