Hey everyone. so today there was a massive power outage. power came on half a hour ago, but my internet is not working.

the modem is a Motorola surfboard. it gets stuck on a blinking blue light that represents that it cannot receive any data. any way to fix this or farther diagnose the issue?

Have restarted it, will call shortly. you know how tech support is though.

pull out the power plug of the modem in 1 min at least

then plug it in again, and wait for it to boot up

okay. Ill try longer. wish me luck.

Could be your ISP. Could be the carrier your ISP uses. Possibly the modem was zapped if there was a spike just before the power outage or upon power restoration (did you turn off the modem when the power failed?).

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

probably the ISP. and no it was not unplugged, but there is a warranty on the power strip that covers all electronics its plugged into, so im not to worried about it being zapped.

Warranties do not stop spikes. Nor can most power strips clamp fast enough to stop spikes caused by lightning or major power equipment failure.

I know, what i meant was that there was it was either a $50K or $500K worth of electronics they would replace guarantee. so if it did fail, it would be covered.

turns out cable was also down. duh, its a comcast issue
