WinRaR or 7zip

Pretty much this.

 

.rar files are basically compressed files. Compression, of course. making file size smaller. If you (OP) need more information about .rar files, you can check here.

It's an alternative to .zip and .7z. each of them have different compression algorithms.

7-zip all the way. Been using it for a few months and I like it
