Whenever I attempt to overclock my computer works fine for like 5 minutes then says windows has encountered an error and then shuts down. Then i get a black screen and it takes a while to get it back to defaults.

Idk if its something with windows or with the Mobo or the Cpu

My Cpu is an AMD FX 6-100 and my motherboard is ASRock 960GM-GS3 FX

Thank you in advance for your help/ suggestions

Hope I could help!

What are your overclocking settings? Are you running a stock or aftermarket cooler?

Sounds like an unstable overclock, need more information.

  • multiplier + mem bus
  • voltage
  • cooler
  • temps

If I had to hazard a guess to fix it either drop the multiplier by 1 or increase the vcore slightly. (Also is this crashing with 5mins of prime 95 or just 5mins of general use?)

One final question have you overclocked your ram as well (if so brand of ram, voltage and speed of overclock on that would be helpful).

i5-3570k @ 4.4ghz (1.240v) || Asrock extreme 4 || CM Hyper 212 evo

Samsung 840 || WD blue 1tb || WD green 1tb || Powercolor 7870 xt @ (1200 mhz core : 1500 mhz mem)

Powered by a silverstone strider 500w psu in a NZXT 210.

it crahes 5 minutes after just general use. i have a coolermaster silent air cooler but surprisingly it keeps it pretty cool. Ive tried to OC to 4.0ghz and I did multiplier and the voltage. on 100% the CPU gets 44 Celcius.

Hope I could help!
